Network Administrator
The Network Administrator requires advanced knowledge in evaluating internal and external environment for threats related to Information Security and performs the role as Information Security subject matter expert to ensure they are properly addressed and controlled in a complex network environment. An intermediate knowledge of security operations, incident analysis, incident handling, and vulnerability management or testing, system patching, log analysis, intrusion detection, or firewall administration. You will be required to conduct studies that evaluate, recommend, and implement security solutions to enhance core security capabilities in the areas of security infrastructure, access management, networking, databases, and servers.Primary Responsibilities:
- Administer, install, configure, update, maintain and troubleshoot the network and cybersecurity technology infrastructure required to support business operations, including (but not limited to): switches, routers, wireless devices, firewalls, VoIP systems, vulnerability scanning and patching, user and device access and remote access (MFA, VPN, MDM), as well as other network attached technologies in both on premise and cloud environments
- Deploy, manage and maintain all network and endpoint security systems and their corresponding or associated software, including firewalls, anti-virus, email and web filtering systems to mitigate any risks associated with security breaches
- Responsible for staff training and awareness on information security
- Assist with the administration and maintenance of virtual and physical servers, end user accounts, permissions, access rights including all aspects of enterprise directory services and supporting server infrastructure, applications and services as required
- Provide back up and escalation support for Helpdesk as required; perform diagnosis of technical problems and troubleshoot calls and problems to conclusion
- Develop and maintain testing and recovery plans, monitor and respond to all network incidents, develop resolutions, oversee recovery, and establish strategies to mitigate re-occurrence
- Plan, develop, and implement the telecommunications infrastructure including installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting and optimizing all telephone systems and services, voicemail and VoIP communication systems
- Provide input into various departmental objectives including but not limited to: budget, policies, procedures, standards, business and services continuity, disaster recovery, data backup strategies, plans and processes, etc
- Communicate with service providers, vendors, and contractors in the resolution of complex issues, quoting and purchasing equipment, and assist the Manager of Technology Services with the administration of contracts
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, computer systems or a related diploma program specializing in systems administration is required.
- Minimum three years of practical experience in network administration including experience designing, implementing and supporting LAN, WAN, cloud-based network solutions and enterprise security
- Demonstrated professional certification in relevant areas such as: CompTIA Network+, Server+, A+, Security+, CySA+, CCNA, MCSE, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC), ITIL Foundation v3 (or later) or other similar industry recognized certification
- Considerable knowledge and hands-on working experience, with the following technologies:
- Networking Switching/Routing, Firewalls, WiFi (SonicWall, UniFi, Dell, Fortinet)
- Remote Access (Citrix, SonicWall, MFA, VPN)
- VoIP Telephony (Mitel, ShoreTel)
- Endpoint Security and Mobile Device Management (SOPHOS)
- Windows Server (Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, DFS, file and print services)
- Virtualized environments (Hyper-V, Citrix)
- Microsoft cloud (Azure, M365, EntraID)
- Enterprise storage (SAN and NAS) and backup systems (Veeam)
- Productivity and collaboration (Microsoft Office, Zoom, Microsoft Teams)
- Email (Microsoft Exchange)
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities, meet deadlines and deal with interruptions.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team environment and unsupervised
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Must possess a valid Ontario Class ‘G’ Driver’s Licence and access to a reliable vehicle
Salary Range:$74,055.80 - $86,632.00 (based on Perth County’s 2024 salary grid).
