Flossmoor School District 161 is seeking an educator for the 2024-25 school year to join an exceptional staff at Parker Junior High for its English/Language Arts department as a 6th grade ELA Teacher! D161 serves approximately 2,300 students in 5 communities with Parker Junior High housing approximately 900 students in grades 6-8. We aim to provide our teams and students with an exceptional experience rooted in high expectations for student achievement and civic responsibility!

Under the supervision of the building principal, you will be responsible for the instruction, progress, and class management of all students in assigned classes and perform related duties as required or assigned. Our current ELA department at Parker Junior High School is comprised of nine teachers with wide ranging experiences.

Qualifications for the position include a Bachelor’s degree or a Master’s degree in Education with prior teaching experience in English/Language Arts in Grades 6-8 within the last ten (10) years or have taken a coursework, seminars or workshops relevant to English/Language Arts – Grades 6-8 education in the last two (2) years. For certification, a valid Illinois Professional Educators License (PEL) with a English/Language Arts endorsement for middle grades is required.
