Job Summary1.1Perform unsupervised work including activities that may be demanding and/or non-routine.

1.2Responsible for testing, maintenance and fault finding on all electrical engineering plant, equipment and services including but not limited to:

Electrical distribution

Lighting installations

Fire detection and suppression systems

Water pumping and pressure boosting

Ventilation and air conditioning plant

Medical vacuum and compressed air plants

Standby generator installations

Nurse call systems

Security systems

UPS systems

CCTV systems

Data and communication systems

Pneumatic Post tube system

1.3Work under own initiative in order to undertake maintenance, repairs, minor improvements, and capital work across the trust as directed, ensuring compliance with Trust safety standards and procedures.

1.4To undertake training for new practices, procedures and equipment.

1.5To undertake on-call duties if required as part of the on-call team to ensure that emergencies occurring outside normal hours are attended to.

To take part in shift working (4 days on 4 days off 12hr shift) to deliver a 7 day service to the Trust if required for the needs of the service.

Main Duties, Tasks & Skills Required

2.1To undertake all work activities as requested by the Electrical Supervisor/Estates Officer.

2.2To work in accordance with Trust safety rules and procedures at all times.

2.3To be prepared to work in hazardous areas taking all safety measures to prevent danger, avoid injury and prevent damage to equipment.

2.4To actively participate in the operation and control of engineering planned maintenance schemes.

2.5To actively participate in the operation of facilities labour control scheme, by completion of all paperwork and reports as required by the scheme.

2.6Carry out all work on equipment as required by the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, COSHH Regulations, Building and Construction Regulations and the Trust's Safety Policy.

2.7To carry out engineering surveys and compile data, as and when instructed by line managers.

2.8To work overtime to carry out repairs/maintenance not possible during normal hours.

Qualifications

Essential

City & Guilds Of London Institute Certificate In Either

Course 232 in Electrical and Electronic Craft Studies, Part 2 (232-2). (E)

Or,

Course 236 in Electrical Installation Work, Part 2 (236-2). (E)

Or,

An equivalent qualification such as NVQ Level 3 in a relevant Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering discipline. (E)

Experience

Essential

Completion of a registered apprenticeship or structured training program in Electrical Engineering for a minimum of 3 years, (E)

Plus

At least 2 years post training, site experience having demonstrated high versatility and flexibility. (E)

And Background in Electrical Engineering, equipment or Building services installation,alteration, maintenance or fault finding. (E)
