About The RoleAffordable Living Homes have an opportunity for an innovative, enthusiastic and dedicated person to become a valuable member of our Drafting team

Working collaboratively with our various pre-construction and construction teams, the successful candidate will create single storey working drawings, helping to guide them through the local government approvals process, and then onto site for construction.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Proficient in computation, CAD software and Microsoft Windows
  • Draft and edit compliant working drawings from existing designs for review and approval by Construction Project Manager and Architects
  • Interpret plans, site surveys, specifications, client requests, building codes and regulations.
  • Ensure best practice while remaining cost effective for our clients.
  • Liaise with our in-house Design, Sales, Estimating, Scheduling, Administration & Construction Managers/teams as drawings progress through to site.
  • Liaise with developers for developer queries advising preliminary costs and timelines
  • Liaise with local government, certifiers and engineers throughout the certification and approvals process.
  • Liaise with trades, material suppliers and site supervisors when required during the construction process.
  • Update our internal job tracking system with feedback and notes.
Skills And Experience
  • Preferably 1 year experience or more as a residential draftsperson.
  • Experience in CAD software, specifically Archicad, preferably 1 year experience or more.
  • Have an understanding of the building codes of Australia and the residential design codes.
  • An understanding of construction methods.
  • Ability to sketch details to visualise and explain construction drawings.
  • Ability to interpret planning documents, maps and schemes for compliance.
  • Ability to follow instructions as well as use initiative when working autonomously or in a team.
  • Team player.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Good communication skills in English - oral and written.
The Successful Candidate Must Have
  • Tertiary qualifications in architectural or technical drawing related to residential construction. A minimum of a Certificate 4 in Residential Drafting.
  • At least 1 year of of experience in a similar Drafting role.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the BCA, R-Codes and Australian Standards.
  • Good CAD knowledge with Archicad experience.
  • Problem solving skills.
Salary & ConditionsA salary between $70,000 - $76,000 will be offered to the successful applicant.
