The School District

Nechako Lakes is situated on the traditional unceded territories of fourteen First Nations encompassing the Dakelh, Nedut'en and Wet'suweten peoples.

The school district encompasses five municipalities, the Districts of Fort St James and Vanderhoof and the Villages of Fraser Lake, Burns Lake and Granisle.

This large area served by our school district has a population of just under 40,000 residents in the beautiful north central BC.

We serve 3,000 students in our standard schools and approximately 900 FTE at EBUS Academy, one of the largest online schools in British Columbia.

Bachelor of Education (Secondary).

Minimum completion of 3rd and 4th year level university coursework necessary for teaching the senior level curricula that are part of this assignment.

A valid BC teaching certificate and current membership with The Ministry of Education and Childcare.

Ability to assist students as needed in a variety of curriculum areas at the senior grade levels.

Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain a positive classroom learning environment that engages students in active learning experiences.

Demonstrated ability to use inclusive instruction to meet the learning needs of diverse learners.

Demonstrated knowledge and experience in working from an inclusion perspective to address diverse learning needs

Understand and use a trauma-informed approach in professional practice.

Experience and knowledge using competency-based assessment strategies.

Experience in differentiating instruction to create success in learning for each student.

Experience in integrating appropriate technologies into instructional practices to improve learning outcomes for students. Online Education Focus

Experience in online curriculum development and delivery in accordance with the standards for K-12 online learning in B.C. Expertise in the use of educational technologies for teaching and learning, especially course management software and both synchronous and asynchronous online delivery software. Able to utilize technology to deliver components of online programs designed for online delivery via learning management systems (Moodle and Brightspace). Able to cope with ragged entry and exit for students by providing flexible learning opportunities in the online courses delivered. A high degree of technological literacy demonstrating an interest in technology integration.

Demonstrated Ability To Communicate Effectively Using Online Communication Platforms (audio, Video, Email, Phone, Chat) With Parents, Students And Staff. Teachers Applying For This Position Must Possess The Following Attributes And Commit To
