We are looking for a highly experienced and adaptable manager for the implementation of a Queensland skills strategy including policy alignment and program design, critically analysing data, liaising with relevant stakeholders, preparing corresponding reports and presentations and exhibiting commitment and encouragement to foster a productive and innovative workplace in accordance with department guidelines.

Skills

As the Manager, Queensland VET Strategy, you will support social and economic outcomes for Queensland through the implementation of the state-wide strategy. You will use your excellent interpersonal and management skills, and strong professional work ethic to:

  • Provide expert advice and strategic analysis to the Executive Director by providing expert advice and strategic analysis that contributes to managing the implementation of the skills strategy.
  • Identify and analyse complex policy issues related to VET and to develop options and provide advice on major policy initiatives or external impacts to the Executive Director and other leaders within the department.
  • Manage the development and delivery of priority strategic projects and program design to support the implementation of the skills strategy, working across DESBT teams and in consultation with government agencies and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare and/or oversee the preparation of well researched strategic policy documentation (Cabinet, Cabinet Budget Review Committee and other submissions, reports, presentations, papers, statements, reporting, briefings and correspondence) that inform Ministerial and Senior Executives on issues that may contribute to decision-making.
  • Liaise, collaborate and manage positive working relationships with other areas of the division, department, other levels of government - state and federal, industry and non-government organisation to achieve policy outcomes and deliver on the implementation of the QVET Strategy and other related Government commitments.
  • Lead, coach and train a multi-disciplinary team to respond to service delivery requirements with a high level of expertise.
