We are looking for an experienced Director to provide effective leadership and management that supports implementation of a proposed skills strategy. Your work in this role will see you provide expert advice and develop the evidence-based methodology to plan and inform the Queensland Government’s investment in training and skills in Queensland.

Skills

As the Director, Training System Oversight you will support social and economic outcomes for Queensland through the overarching market oversight of the skills strategy implementation. You will use your excellent interpersonal and management skills, and strong professional work ethic to, but not limited to:

  • Develop and implement a methodology (including collation and analysis of data) to develop an outcomes-based investment and performance framework and oversee ongoing implementation.
  • Lead the development and publication of an annual plan to deliver government priorities for skills and training.
  • Exhibit high level capacity to influence change and improve outcomes through monitoring the internal and external environment and identify issues likely to impact the training and skills sector, research and project management expertise and highlevel strategic advice relating to the market oversight functions of the skills strategy.
  • Exhibit high level of advocacy, negotiation, consultation, facilitation, interpersonal and communication skills for a wide variety of audiences, working with internal and external clients to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes within an economic, labour market and/or vocational education and training context.
  • Exhibit the capacity to work effectively and lead under pressure, manage competing priorities, meet externally imposed deadlines and bring projects to completion in a complex, industry and community facing environment, contributing to a cohesive management team, gaining commitment and motivation from staff.
  • Prepare and/or oversee the preparation of documents (Cabinet, Cabinet Budget Review Committee and other submissions, reports, papers, statements, briefings and correspondence) on policy issues that impact the skills strategy to inform Ministerial and senior executive decision-making.
