The Department of Transport and Main Roads requires an AutoCAD Designer (mid to senior level) to operate in a multidisciplinary team environment and participate in the design and delivery of concept, planning and detail design projects as components of transport infrastructure projects and provide technical advice and support to the transport infrastructure functional areas in the Region.

Key deliverables and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Development of transport infrastructure designs in the strategic planning, concept, development, and implementation phases of an overarching Road System Manager framework for the delivery of projects.
  • Ensuring that designs are implemented in accordance with the relevant policies, standards, guidelines and legislation, and that quality management procedures are adhered to.
  • Reviewing of designs provided by external design consultancy services.
  • Providing support and advice, including problem resolution, to various stakeholders on the planning and design process for successful completion of transport infrastructure projects.
  • Providing technical advice and support in relation to planning and design processes for transport infrastructure projects aligned with the relevant phases of corridor planning, program development, program delivery, and program finalisation.
  • Undertaking key components of the planning and design function for transport infrastructure projects to achieve successful completion within time, quality, cost and stakeholder expectations.
  • Implementing the most suitable design process for project delivery, including investigating, analysing and conceptualising possible design options to meet project objectives.
  • This Role reports to the Team Leader or Principal Designer (Civil) or as agreed upon.
Requirements
  • 12d design and AutoCAD design.
  • Ensure adherence to quality management procedures.
  • Provide support and advice on the planning and design process, to ensure fit for purpose, value for money and best practice are achieved.
  • Preparation of contract documentation, project specifications, drawings and cost estimates.
  • Contribute to teamwork and foster a positive attitude toward the achievement of organisational objectives.
  • Monitor project timeframes and prioritise tasks to deliver projects and regional requirements within agreed timeframes.
  • Maintain and apply all relevant standards, policies, guidelines and legislative requirements necessary for the planning and design of road infrastructure projects.
Mandatory Requirements
  • Must comply with the Ethical Supplier Threshold and Queensland Government Supplier Code of Conduct.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Check (CHC) within the last 12 months prior to commencement of work.
