About The Role

Geelong Arts Centre Customer Event Officers are part of our frontline team who deliver a level of service and experience that exceeds customer and visitor expectations. As the first point of contact for all visitors to the Centre, the role of Customer Event Officer is key to ensuring people experience our values in every interaction they have with us - receiving a warm welcome where our smile celebrates inclusiveness and our shared passion for creativity.

This role is diverse and engaging, encompassing food & beverage service, concierge, ushering, providing tours, assisting with merchandise, ticket enquiries, cleaning and emergency procedures. Our staff are known for their thorough understanding of the Centre’s programs and their willingness to provide outstanding support, service and solutions to customers and visitors alike.

Skills and Experiences:

Essential Qualifications And Experience

To be successful in this position, you will have experience in a similar role, a passion for delivering exceptional experiences and thrive in a high-energy, innovative environment. Your experience will include but will not be limited to:

  • Experience in event delivery or hospitality, with experience as a Food & Beverage Attendant or Barista highly regarded.
  • A passion for food and beverage, a strong focus on customer service, and a genuine desire for crafting memorable event experiences.
  • Superior customer resolution skills, proficient in deescalating issues and fostering customer satisfaction.
  • Working within responsible service of alcohol and food regulations and standards.
  • Outstanding multitasking skills and the ability to maintain a positive attitude during busy service periods.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to upholding high-quality standards.
  • Flexibility to work across a 7-day roster including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
  • Holds a current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) Accreditation.
Desirable Qualifications And Experience
  • Holds Use Hygiene Practices for Food Safety Accreditation, demonstrating commitment to industry standards and safety compliance.
Special Characteristics
  • Flexibility in working hours to support daytime, evening, and weekend work will be required as part of the normal hours of duty for this position.
  • The following checks, licences and certifications are required for this role:
  • Current and valid Working with Children’s Check (employee)
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol Accreditation
Physical agility and manual handling are intrinsic requirement of this role. This includes: arrangement of tables and chairs, clearing of crockery and glasses, restocking of bar and fridges, ability to see in low light, walking and using stairs, standing for extended periods, manual handling and some lifting.

The employee must provide evidence that they hold current certifications prior to commencing employment with Geelong Arts Centre. The employee must maintain currency of these checks, licences and certifications for the duration of their employment with Geelong Arts Centre.
