General Manager

Duperow Co-op serves the community of Biggar, SK with offerings in agro, petroleum, home and building, and liquor. With revenues of over 19M and a team of 15, we are proud to serve our members with high quality products and excellent value.

What you’ll do: 

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the GM has overall strategic, fiscal, and operational responsibility for the Co-op, including the leadership and development of the leadership team. Using effective interpersonal competencies and managerial strategies, the GM will work with the Board of Directors to oversee the management of the Co-op and develop the strategy, goals, and objectives in alignment with the strategic plan. The primary responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to the following: 

• Strategy - Collaborating with the Board to develop a strategy aligned with the Co-op’s vision, mission, and values. Translating the strategy into the tactical direction, goals/objectives, and initiatives for the Co-op with a primary goal of growing our business. 
• Financial Stewardship - Leading the development of the Co-op’s annual operating and capital budgets and ensuring efficient operation and adherence to the budget. 
• Operations - Overseeing the overall operation of the Co-op and ensuring the efficient utilization of resourcing and assets to achieve operational plans and business outcomes. 
• Leadership - Providing leadership and maintaining a positive work environment that promotes the engagement and development of all team members to support the achievement of desired results and a positive customer experience. 
• Relationships - Building and enhancing relationships with members, customers, team members, and stakeholders.

Who you are:  

You are a recognized leader in ​Retail Store Operations​ and have: 

• 5+ years of relevant experience of managing people in the retail industry. Note: A combination of equivalent education/experience may be considered. 
• Strong skills in overseeing detailed department operating budgets, timelines, people, and processes. 
• A reputation for being honest and trustworthy, results-oriented, and striving to be the best in what you do. 
• A commitment to building relationships and collaborating to deliver solutions that matter most, and you recognize the value that different perspectives bring to meet shared objectives.

Where you’ll work:  

Duperow Co-op’s administration office is located in Biggar, SK. Biggar is a thriving community with many amenities and services to offer. It houses a hospital and health center with emergency services, two large schools, and many recreational facilities including: a large 18-hole golf course, a regional park, aquatic center, and the Biggar Rec Valley (home of multiple famed western rodeo events through the year). It is located within an hour's drive of multiple larger city centers, while boasting a thriving business core which was the heart of the much publicized "Revitalize Biggar" project. It is a vibrant and growing community, and the community members are proud that while New York is Big, this is Biggar.
