Akkodis is hiring a Health Navigator to work remotely for one of our clients in the Healthcare industry!

Location: Remote (candidates must be based in California)

Pay: $21/hr

Employment type: 3 month contract

A Health Navigator is a healthcare professional who helps individuals and communities access healthcare services and understand healthcare information. Their role is crucial in ensuring that people receive appropriate care and support. Health Navigators play a vital role in bridging the gap between patients and the complex healthcare system, ensuring that everyone has equal access to quality care.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assessment: Conduct assessments of individuals' health needs, social determinants of health, and barriers to accessing healthcare services.
  2. Guidance: Provide guidance and support to individuals in navigating the healthcare system, including understanding insurance options, finding healthcare providers, and scheduling appointments.
  3. Education: Educate individuals and communities about various health topics, preventive care, and available healthcare resources.
  4. Advocacy: Advocate for patients and help them communicate effectively with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and social service agencies.
  5. Coordination: Coordinate healthcare services and referrals, ensuring that patients receive necessary tests, treatments, and follow-up care.
  6. Cultural Competency: Demonstrate cultural competence and sensitivity when working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  7. Documentation: Maintain accurate and confidential records of interactions with patients, including assessments, recommendations, and referrals.
  8. Community Outreach: Engage in community outreach activities to raise awareness about healthcare services and promote health and wellness.

Qualifications:

  1. Education: A bachelor's degree in healthcare, social work, public health, or a related field is often required. Some positions may require a master's degree.
  2. Experience: Previous experience in healthcare, social work, or community outreach is valuable. Experience in patient advocacy or navigation is a plus.
  3. Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential. Health Navigators need to explain complex healthcare information in an understandable manner.
  4. Empathy: Strong empathy and compassion for individuals facing health challenges are crucial for building trust and rapport with patients.
  5. Cultural Competence: Awareness and understanding of cultural differences and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  6. Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills are necessary to keep track of patient information, appointments, and follow-up care.
  7. Tech Proficiency: Proficiency in using healthcare databases, electronic health records (EHR) systems, and other software tools used for patient management.
  8. Ethics: Adherence to ethical guidelines and patient confidentiality standards is imperative.
