A Lower Elementary teacher at Pinecrest is responsible for developing and delivering engaging and rigorous second-grade instruction to our students. The ideal candidate will have a passion for early elementary education and a strong understanding of the principles of project-based learning. The teacher will work collaboratively with other teachers, administrators, and parents to create a positive and supportive learning environment but will ultimately be responsible for shepherding the students through this year of development.

We are looking for the right candidate to join our team at the start of the '24-'25 school year. There will be an opportunity to join our summer camp if you want to join the community a little sooner.

Pinecrest School is an award-winning, independent school located inside the Beltway in Annandale serving children ages 3 through sixth grade and offering summer camp. Pinecrest nurtures curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning. Pinecrest’s approach to education encourages students to explore their interests and develop their problem-solving skills.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Perform the duties of a homeroom teacher.
• Develop and deliver differentiated grade-appropriate lessons to meet all learners' needs.
• Use a variety of approaches to enhance instruction and assessment.
• Stay up-to-date on current research and best practices.
• Embrace the small school community of Pinecrest and all it brings.
• Maintain a positive and supportive learning environment.

Qualifications (Minimum Preferred)

• Bachelor's degree in education or a related field.
• Strong understanding of elementary teaching concepts and principles.
• Experience with project-based learning.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Passion for education.
