This position exists to provide clerical and administrative support to the Captains and Case Management Program Director. It provides administrative support to the End of Confinement Review Committee (ECRC). It responds to Court Orders for Civil Commitment documents and provides direction and clarification to other staff on ECRC procedures, the Civil Commit and SPP/SDP Process. This position also processes applications for medical assistance, tracks and assists Case Managers with the Lifer Review Books and provides backup support to administrative specialists as needed.
This position has contact with incarcerated individuals at MCF-Lino Lakes
Minimum Qualifications
The following qualifications are required of all applicants seeking consideration for this position.
- Typing/keyboarding skills sufficient to perform skilled typing tasks with speed and accuracy.
- Math skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, and use simple formulas.
- Database management skills sufficient to query information from computer logs and systems (such as COMS) and accurately enter, retrieve and interpret the information.
- Data entry performance sufficient to update DOC-specific databases, gather and report on data using Microsoft Excel, Crystal reports and COMS.
- Word processing skills (preferably with Microsoft Word) sufficient to prepare memos and letters that are grammatically correct, in proper format, and free of spelling errors.
- Spreadsheet software skills (preferably with Microsoft Excel) sufficient to design, develop and manipulate spreadsheets.
- English language skills (written, oral, and ability to read) sufficient to answer phones, read correspondence, and write memos and letters using appropriate, professional language.
- Customer service skills sufficient to answer the phone, refer callers, and greet visitors with courtesy and respect.
- Experience or training in the use of the following Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and/or Publisher.
- BCA certification and experience conducting background checks.
- Experience working in an office/clerical setting.
- Experience working in a correctional/secured setting.
- Knowledge of data privacy and the Minnesota Data Practices Act.
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality of data and information.
- Ability to exhibit professionalism, courtesy and tact.
Additional Requirements
The selection process may include screening the top candidate(s) on their criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations and/or other applicable background information in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy.
Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. This may include a review of job performance and discipline records.
