This role will provide quality project management, program and administrative support for the implementation of local, community and regional strategies, initiatives and projects focused on improving economic participation and business development opportunities, including the Youth Employment Program.

Key responsibilities of this role

  • Support and lead community engagement processes, including the monitoring and reporting of actions and outcomes from these processes that deliver benefits to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients and communities, through the Local Thriving Communities Frameworks.
  • Support strategic initiatives by coordinating and contributing to the Aurukun Place Based Community Leadership Group, as well as maintaining, updating and monitoring the progress of this group.
  • Support and lead the development, coordination and implementation of projects to improve community and economic participation outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities.
  • Establish, maintain and support relationships/networks/partnerships between communities and other stakeholders, including all levels of government, non-government organisations and the business community to enable them to share strategies and information on practical and effective ways to respond to issues.
  • Assist with the preparation of reports, submissions, briefs, memoranda and correspondence in relation to community and economic participation projects and initiatives.
  • Collect and analyse data to inform the development and implementation of community and economic participation projects and initiatives.
  • Other priorities as requested by the Regional Director and Manager Cape York.
  • All staff are responsible for identifying, managing and reporting risks relating to their work.
There is No employee Housing provided with this position.

Possession of a valid Queensland driver's licence.

Possession of a valid Blue Card.

This person may be a community member, supervisor or work colleague. An applicant's confirmation as a First Nations Australian does not exempt them from providing a cultural reference.

For some roles, it is a condition of employment to comply with the department's COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements policy. Where this policy requirement applies, employees must provide evidence of their vaccination status including having the prescribed number of doses of an approved COVID-19 vaccine prior to the commencement of their employment.
