Talent & Industry Relations Coordinator
Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Industry Relations, the Talent and Industry Relations Coordinator will be part of a transformational career services team. The Career Center advances student success by providing a robust Berklee network, coordinated career resources, and enriching practice based and experiential opportunities that help students develop an entrepreneurial mindset as they define, develop and realize their artistic, creative, and career potential with greater intention and success.
The Talent and Industry Relations Coordinator will support planning, marketing, communications and logistics for signature events such as Career Jam, Job and Internship Expo, Network Before You Move, Auditions and Student Showcases. The Talent and Industry Relations Coordinator will contribute to the daily administration of the Berklee Career Manager job, internship and gig board and help keep staff and faculty informed about new employers interested in hiring Berklee talent. The Coordinator will support connections between employers, students, and alumni through management of talent relations databases and employer engagement activities and services. In addition, the Coordinator will work with colleagues and students to promote the social media marketing content strategy and roadmap.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Talent Relations and Employer Engagement
- Support the Industry Relations and Employer Engagement team by nurturing and maintaining affiliations with employers and alumni to increase the quantity and quality of job, gig and internship opportunities for students
- Serve as both a resource and liaison to employers who are interested in recruiting Berklee talent
- Assist employers with job, gig and internship postings including overseeing new and existing employer accounts, post employer events; handle RSVPs for events; manage career fairs and employer registrations; maintain employer contact information
- Continually encourage additional ways for employers to connect with Berklee talent
- Work with staff to track, analyze and distribute recruiting and hiring outcomes
- Stay current on trends impacting hiring of interns and graduates in music, performance, entertainment and creative industries
- Develop and refresh Talent Database in support of Berklee industry pitches
- Prepare decks for customized talent presentations
- Support recruitment and career program efforts including scheduling and coordination of events that include employer information sessions, mentoring sessions, master classes, workshops, classroom visits, career fairs, student trips, auditions and campus interviews and visiting artists
- In collaboration with the career engagement team, develop career-related marketing materials and coordinate the creation and distribution of promotional materials for events and activities in consultation with the communications team
- Play a key role in the event planning, marketing, travel bookings, and logistics for signature events: Career Jam, Job and Internship Expo, Artist Resource Fair, Network Before You Move, Song screenings and auditions
- Liaise with student clubs and organizations
- Manage and enhance relationships with past, current, and potential employers with the intent to significantly expand career-ready internships and other opportunities for students and alumni
- Act as an Internship Advisor and maintain a course load of internship students each semester
- Advise students 1:1 on research techniques, job search strategies, networking tactics, resume and interview prep, and salary negotiation
- Educate, assist, and prepare students on tactics for applying and working at internships and full time jobs
- Deliver classroom presentations for professional development strategies and resources.
- Support all Career Center initiatives with promotion on social media channels that include Instagram, TikTok and Facebook by creating content and moderating conversations to engage student and alumni communities
- Act as the voice of our Career Center in partnership with student employees while adhering to Berklee brand guidelines and best practices
- Track analytics and manage various social platforms
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- One - two years of customer service related experience
- One - two years of event planning experience
- Experience in a career services office, recruiting, and/or music and entertainment industry
- Strong written communication and presentation skills
- Ability to pursue multiple tasks simultaneously while demonstrating attention to detail and follow through on duties
- High ethical standards, knowledge and appreciation of cross-cultural and bias issues, and demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations
- Motivated/enthusiastic work style and proven ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of internal and external constituents
- Familiarity with music business, musical theater and dance; performing arts, and music technology preferred
- Positive attitude and commitment to excellent customer service
- Handle stressful, delicate matters in a professional, discrete, and mature manner
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Canva, Powerpoint and Google Suite Applications
- Social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram and TikTok
- May include occasional oversight of student employees for events and programs
- Occasional weekend and evening work requested for various campus events and activities
