Round Table Conferences

  • First Round Table Conference: November 12, 1930 – January 19, 1931 The first conference was attended by the Indian National Congress and the Muslim League, as well as other Indian political leaders. Mahatma Gandhi was invited but did not attend. The conference focused on the Indian political system, electoral reforms, and the communal representation of minorities. Some of the prominent leaders of the Muslim League who attended the conference were Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Aga Khan III, and Muhammad Shafi.
  • Second Round Table Conference: September 7 – December 1, 1931 The second conference was attended by representatives of the Indian states, as well as the Indian National Congress and the Muslim League. The conference focused on the relationship between the Indian states and the British government. The leaders of the Muslim League who attended the conference included Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Aga Khan III, Muhammad Shafi, and Fazlul Haq.
  • Third Round Table Conference: November 17 – December 24, 1932 The third conference was attended by the Indian National Congress and the Muslim League, as well as representatives of other Indian communities. The conference focused on the rights of minorities, the protection of their interests, and the future of the Indian constitution. The leaders of the Muslim League who attended the conference were Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Sir Muhammad Zafrulla Khan, and Sir Abdullah Haroon.
